William has been leading Waipara Adventure Centre for the last 9 years, and has an incredible amount of knowledge, experience and passion for the outdoors and adventuring. From time in the Antarctic, to climbing mountains all over the world - you name it, he has done it.
His love for camp and making a difference in children's lives is evident by his 'go get 'em' attitude and enthusiasm.
Having had extensive experience in administration, Carolanne's field of knowledge, vivacious personality, 'can do' attitude, and ability to learn and adapt quickly, have made her an incredibly valuable member of staff at Waipara. She strives to ensure that every group that books is fully informed and has everything they need to have a successful camp. As her role is so crucial in the running of the camp, she is a part of the management team and actively participates in many of the decisions made at camp.
Emma has grown up in the Waipara Adventure Centre camping environment. She worked with the catering team for several years and moved into an instructing role last year.
She loves helping kids to challenge themselves through our instructed activities. This is Emma's second year with us, and her skills as lead instructor are a highly valued part of our instruction team.
Emma is planning on a career in camping and the outdoors and is currently pursuing opportunities in Canada for next year.
Through growing up as a member of Boys' Brigade in the Canterbury/West Coast Battalion, Timothy has had a long history with the camp. During the summer he mostly works as part of the instructing team, and in the winter he works, under William's guidance, doing maintenance for the camp.
He is working towards a qualification through Skills Active to gain an Outdoor Leadership Certificate in Bush.
Emma has been studying Adventure and Tourism Management at Queenstown Resort College. She is back with us this year to complete her internship.
She has prior experience in rock climbing and is taking the opportunity to learn more about high ropes by working with us and doing a course in high ropes through Skills Active.
Maddy has been studying Adventure and Tourism Management at Queenstown Resort College. Her experience in the outdoors includes tramping and hiking as part of a scouting unit. She loved the outdoors and adventure tourism activities. She also has some prior experience with high ropes courses and abseiling.
Maddy is one of our new interns this year, and we look forward to sharing a more complete profile later.
This is James' third year as one of our instructors. During the winter he has been working at Macpac and doing as much tramping as he can fit in.
Beth joined us as a casual instructor last year and is with us again this year.
Ross is one of our longest-standing instructors and has a long history with the camp. His energy and young-at-heart personality make him extremely popular.
Susan is our catering manager. She takes great pride in her kitchen team, who make delicious camp meals for a variety of requirements and dietary needs.
Anna has a passion for food and camps. She has found the best of both worlds in joining the kitchen team at Waipara. Her quirky personality brings a sense of fun to the kitchen.
Emma has grown up in the Waipara Adventure Centre camping environment. She is now our lead instructor, but still assists in the kitchen at times.
